Chilliwack and real estate around it
Chilliwackis located in the Upper Fraser Valley, 100 kilometres (60 mi) east of Vancouver on the Trans Canada Highway. The city is bounded on the north by the Fraser River, and on the south by the Canada-United States border. Chilliwack is surrounded by tall mountain peaks (such as the dramatic Mount Cheam and Slesse Mountain) and mighty rivers (the Fraser and Vedder).
Chilliwack‘s natural setting is magnificent and it is a challenge to curb the spread of housing subdivisions into valuable farmland. Chilliwack was once a small agricultural town, but in recent years the booming housing market in neighboring Abbotsford and Langley spilled exerted it’s influence on the real estate market here. Chilliwack real estate
On average there are just under 200 single family homes for sale in Chilliwack. The Chilliwack real estate board which cover more populated areas like Hope, Sardis and many of the smaller areas has on average over 700 single family homes listed for sale at any one time.
The lower price range single family detached homes can be bought at $250,000 which is about one-third the price of a similar homes in the lower mainland of Vancouver.
Multi-family dwellings in Chiliwack
Multi-family townhouses and condos in represent about one-third the total housing mix for homes for sale on the Chilliwack real estate board. There are around 200 townhouses listed for sale on the Chilliwack real estate board MLS system. About the same number of condos and apartments is registered on the real estate board MLS system.
Over 85% of the condos are found in the Chilliwack proper, while only about 30% of the townhouses listed with the real estate board are in Chilliwack proper. The balance 70% of the townhouses are spread out across other areas.
